Background and goals

We need the forest as the basis of life for plants, animals and people. The forest regulates our climate and is also a recreational area for us. Companies certified according to PEFC show their commitment to the environment and their responsibility in dealing with the indispensable raw material wood. PEFC is holistic sustainability: an integrative concept that combines ecological, social and economic aspects. And PEFC is the guarantor for a controlled processing chain – independently monitored, fully traceable and sustainable.

PEFC – Four letters the forest is glad about

PEFC is international. This is already reflected in the name “Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes”, which pursues one goal across national borders: the worldwide improvement of forest use and care. All national schemes are based on the same origin in terms of content: the resolutions passed at the follow-up conferences to the Rio Conference on the Environment.
