The entire Eversfrank Group is now one of 36 climate protection companies: Federal Minister of Economics Zypries pays tribute to the new members

Berlin, 20.02.2018 – Since 2012, the Meldorf location has been one of 36 climate protection companies, an excellence initiative of the Federal Environment Ministry. We are all the more pleased that the entire Eversfrank Group has been included in the initiative with immediate effect and that all locations are now literally climate protection companies. As a member of this cross-industry association of companies of all sizes from Germany, we voluntarily commit ourselves to measurable and ambitious environmental and energy-saving measures.

“Our economy needs companies that show that economic success and climate protection are not contradictory”, explained Federal Minister of Economics Brigitte Zypries at the award ceremony on 20 February 2018 in Berlin, at which Hauke Klinck, Environmental Management Officer, and Matthias Langenohl, Managing Director Technology & Production, were also invited. “The climate protection companies are role models for other companies and show innovative examples of energy saving. I hope that other companies will follow this example”.

In addition to the 100% use of certified green electricity from hydropower, the emissions resulting from the use of natural gas have been offset since last year as part of an international climate protection project. As a result, 95 % of greenhouse gas emissions were saved. Since 2009, our customers have had the opportunity to offset their performance-related emissions at CO₂ with Evers-ReForest’s own reforestation projects in Schleswig-Holstein. Since 2005, the energy efficiency indicator has been reduced by 40 %, from 0.70 to 0.42 MWh per ton of paper processed.

“The admission as a group is a further important step for us, because as a whole we are committed to working in an environmentally friendly manner,” reports Hauke Klinck. “We thus promise our customers continuous further development in the areas of sustainability and energy efficiency.

There are now 36 climate protection companies in Germany. In addition to small and medium-sized companies, the member companies also include large companies such as IKEA and ALDI SÜD. The members thus act as beacons for outstanding achievements in operational energy efficiency.
