How does energy management work?

With the help of energy management, potential energy savings are identified and increased. First of all, energy flows in the company and the associated energy sources are recorded and analysed. Based on this, ideas for improvement are developed, evaluated for economic efficiency and then implemented. Energy management thus helps in the decision-making process for investments in energy efficiency. In order to achieve an improvement in energy efficiency in the long term as well, companies define an organisation-wide energy policy, set energy targets, create action plans and measure the achievement of targets using key performance indicators. In addition, energy management influences the organisational and technical processes in the company as well as the behaviour of the employees. For example, responsibilities for energy-relevant processes are regulated, communication procedures are established and the necessary competencies of staff are identified and ensured.
